The Tennessee Board of Regentsd has recommendeda full-board tuition increase for the six universities it including Austin Peay State East Tennessee State University, Middle Tennesses State University, Tennessee State Tennessee Tech University and the U of M. Tuition for studentsa taking 18 hours at U of M will increaswe just over 9 percentto $2,718 a semester, compared to $2,489 per semestef for the 2008-09 school year. Students takingg 12 hours willpay $2,652 a semester, an increas of nearly 7 percent over 2008-09’s cost of $2,489. The changezs are directly relatedto TBR’s decisiohn to charge for every hour of classes students take with no cap, startinfg this fall.
Previously, TBR capped tuition at 12 hours, after which studentss attendedfor free. Now any hours students take abover 12 will havea $10 per hour additional Students taking under 12 hours will see 5 percent increases in tuition costs from last year.
